rule of thirds is when you put the object that your going to take a picture of on a tick tack toe coner it just show the picture in another angle and not in front because when your in photo class you are not looking for snapshots you looking for art in the photo and snapshot are when you take picture in front and look kinda boring but rule of thirds make the snapshot look for to a photo.

I like your picture here, its very artistic. I can't tell if its really on the rule of thirds, so the only thing i would do better is move the light just a bit down.
