Artist Statement

In this photo class there was my teacher Ms. Cook she is one of the best teacher I’ve had she help me with a lot of thing she been there for me and I thank her for being my teacher. Now as for our portfolio we started in the beginning of the year this was we use to put all our best work on her and thing we just started to learn. All this work I have done was help by Ms. Cook, but all the thing that I have learn I will take it with me when I go to Puerto Rico this summer. I will put the picture that I have taken and the different ways to make a photo to art work. The photo that I uploaded on the portfolio were all a little about me and some was a lot about me so all the work came from my life of something that I was going though. That is the reason I really like this portfolio because people can see the work that I have done and though a photograph you can see what my life is all about, but my favorite project was the effects and color. Well for the color project was for use to take a picture but there had to be color everywhere and not just one color but all color and as for the effects was to take the color photo and change the levels, blur them just messing with the photograph just really and if you see you will see how cool the photo came out. This really help me learn a lot of thing by messing with photograph on Photoshop as you can see some of my picture have thing that you really cant do when your just taking a picture. So that where Photoshop come in. With Photoshop it helps me make one of my best works and that is personal metaphor and all the work I have done on my portfolio. But there where thing that I really didn’t get like put thing together but I got it done. But I will still work on the thing I need to work on to make me stronger in my photograph. I really think everything that I have done was all about me. It’s like telling my story. This is kind of why I took this class to tell a story in on photograph and I like to thanks the teacher that made this happen Ms. Cook. One of my favorite teacher and best teacher I had thanks

Personal Metaphor

I'm as fierce as a lion but also as cuddly as a panda

the reason i did this for my project i wanted to show how i really am. just because i box's doesn't mean I'm the guy who just always mad all the time when you look at me i look like a kid just trying to find a way to get money or do something with my life and that the reason why i chooses the lion and panda because a lion is very scary and i use it because when I'm in the ring I'm a very scary person and the panda is very cute and looks nice and just one of them animals that just dont seem to harm but what i did is put the lion and panda skin on me and change my eyes and made my teeth look more scary and i put the background look like were you would think a lion and panda would live so i made the lion side look like its in the middle of no where and the panda in a nice green place but it was very hard to do this thinks to ms. cook i would got it to look like this but i really think i did a good job

Shutter Speed

The setting on the camera for the picture perfect is that we had the ISO on 5000 and we had the shutter speed on 15 sec. It was pretty cool working with shutter speed, the reason why is because if you move it makes it look like you were a ghost or something. Also because when we did the light graffiti, i really liked it how you could draw something and it will record it.

ISO: Film Speed

the iso we had to take picture using light and diffrenet ways i used the flash it really put alot of light into my photo, as i used the ISO the higher the ISO was the more enhanced the picture was. I would rather use the ISO then flash because when they use flash in your face u might skint or make a funny face because of the flash. But, when you use the ISO you wont skint you will look the normal. When you use a fast ISO it wont let a lot of light come into the picture

Fill in Flash Experiment

fill and flash is when you're using the flash in the dark or in light but it is you to make you come out more show all the part were it can not see you it puts more light and make you more clear to see were you are... we were post to take a picture in the a place that you can see them but not see them and take one in the bright place and using your hand and we were post to take one picture with out flash and on with flash.

Metering

Metering helps to balance out the lighting in an area when taking a picture, it is activated by pushing the shutter button half way down. When I metered off of the computer screen everything in its area went dark because it the camera used the computer's screen as you see in the in the first picture. In the second picture I metered off of my objects face, because of this we can see the surroundings.

Surrealism "Me vs MySelf"

this picture when i had a dream about like 4 of 5 time i really dont know why but now i know becasue a great man once told me if you will win you must beat you self so when i dream that dream again i win and when i win something great always happens. as i did this picture i use my self as a toy and make a young girl (my sister) play with them at a play ground so made my self in to a toy and make it in black and white because i always have my dream like this so i just wanted to to be just like it but it came out like i dream about it but just with out the ring i just add that but i think i did alright on this project

Surreal Practice Tutorials

We prepared for our surreal project by practicing different techniques we may want to use in our projects. In this tutorial we learned the value of layering textures using blending options to create an atmosphere with dream like qualities. i really like how we just put thing together and made it into a nice photo. it eas very cool

NEXT

We then followed this tutorial found at http://www.voidix.com/eye_manipulation.html to give us ideas and practice combining images, reversing natural laws, transforming objects and using Photoshop to create a realistic surrealistic scene. i really learn a bit about this but not much becasue i was not here that much thats when started to miss but i lean how to but thing together and make it work

Alternate Program: Si Se Puede

i like doing this project and i know there was a lot of kids that did there very good but i really like mine i dont know why but i like mine i really didnt know what i was going to do at first but i just wanted to keep it simple and just look nice but the only thing i dont like is the picture it didnt really come out as i thought it was but its ok but it was fun

Effects

we did diffrent thing to the same photo. we blur it and Cross Process it and
Glow and Emphasis it but i really like the Cross Process becasue it was very fun how you can change the colors of the picture. but it was pretty fun just working on photo shop and just learn more thing but really i like them all

Frames

this was a project to you the frame in lights or darks and make the frame you like i really dont know how to explain it but this project was really fun i had a fun trying to make a frame look good in my picture i really think i pulled it off

Color!

the 1st was is very funny to me because it post to be like im opening the door which im not post to so that how we did it and i know i have black on the the color of the door and other thing make me come out more and the red on me t-shit but i think this one is funny and the 2nd one i wasnt even post to do that i was just shitting down and andrea just took it and i was like dang that nice so that how we got this and the blue in the sky come out nice with the sun and makeing me like in the like not blur out but it just came out nice i think

Balance: Asymmetrical vs Symmetrical

the 1st one is the asymmetrical it was about like im all alone and other people are making fun of me but im sitting on the tree and so make it even everything out by having the tree and the people as you see making fun of me it came out very nice then what we thought it was i really hurt my self doing it but it ok and the 2nd it the symmetrical one it was nice how it came out becasue i didnt get her on time like im post to sorry ms cook :( and i had to jump in there group and they told me to just sit on here and what we all didnt know that were everone was sitting that one person had black shoes and the other had white shoes but i like it how everthing came out to be

Artist Statement

Our portfolio is probable one of the best thing we got in this class. Because you don’t have to take the picture home to show your family you can just get on the internet and show them right off there and you get to see everyone art and what they did in there project. And try to see what other idea were good and it just fun looking at other people work and having people commenting your own work. So I really like the portfolio.
I have learn a lot of thing in this class what we have done was very cool. Because I never really knew how to use a camera until I got in here. All I really knew was just to click and not get the angle and leading line and rule of thirds like that stuff really work on pictures. Like I will never ever think a little line or little adjustment of an angle will really help out the picture and I got give it up to Photoshop that the best I never had something like that it make the picture give more of and look like when you use Photoshop it seem like you cant look away from the picture. But I really learn a lot in this class.
I think the best thing I did would have to be the macro and the lyrics and the social issues. I really like do them because they seem to have to do with take picture and using Photoshop and I really like doing both because it make it more fun with you can take a picture and then use Photoshop and having people be like dang who did that for you. It really cool. But another thing I really like messing with the camera because it fun I just really like take picture and see what art come out then use the Photoshop to fix it up a little more to make the picture to art.
I think the only thing I kind of struggled on was being late lol Ms. Cook know what I’m talking about and she know I do really good work well she know everyone dose really good work look at the teacher we have. But I don’t really think I struggled on much but that and little on the scary face I don’t think I did my best on that one but we have a great teacher that helps us not to struggle and not be behind. Thank Ms. Cook
I think could really improve on a little more stuff to try not to make the picture more of a Photoshop to make look a little more real. But I just think I really just need to work more on being on time. But I am ready to do more work I really like this class and I think everyone that has this class like this class it is very fun and great thing to know about beside have just little picture you can have art. That what make it cool to know that your picture is art.

this is the lyric project i use the roy jones jr song cant be stop(I move when my heart say move, fierce like a lion got nothing to prove, stubborn as a hot damn mule, god in my corner I can't lose trying to take me out my hot damn shoes see how quick I jump up and give you bitches the blues, they gonna see you on the hot damn news and that ain't even nothing, linking me to the crime, not a print, not a hot damn clue beating these guys down is what I came to do and I ain't playing bout a hot damn rule shaking you guys down if you ain't paying your dues we passing up yo block and ohh my screws are loose don't call my hands cause you gonna make me act a hot damn fool dead discussion, you will not win cause I will not lose.). the reason why i pick this song was because he a boxer and on this song show how much a boxer train and what he think about him self and other guy he fight like it make me really wanna work hard want more in boxing i really use my boxing picture with my belts to show what this song does when you hear it

Social Issue

this was my social issue it was about me and my race im half mexican and puerto rican if you didnt know and as i go to my family house i alway get this family better this and that i hate it because i really am glad im what i am even if i was just one i love my family and my race but i just dont like the way they talk about eachother and i cant say witch one is better because iam both so that what i was tryin to get at on this social issue

the reason i use the word becasue it kinda show what im goin though like i have to people on my back like it make me kinda mad and the picture was to show how there are like little people on me all the time makeing me try to do something i dont wanna do but i really like this project becasue it show what i go though being half mexican and puerto rican but im still me happy i have them in my blood.

Haunted Chavez

this is the haunted chavez porject i really like this because the people i use my god son as u can see the only baby in here my friend eric and ralph and andrea as alway she made this pic she was the main person that had this project be so cool i real thank you who help me and i just really like this pic

The Guardian

Looking at this man and the face he making the way he has his hand on his face the way the color in the art picture make it seem like the man has lost a love one. Know he could have saved her and he thinking he could have done something so that she will not have been died he is going out of his mine. He want to go to the other side and see his love one just one more time he crying out for help well people are just looking at him crazy thinking he going out of his mine.

Scary Expressions

as this is one of my fav i like it because andrea postion as a gost she made it look very crazy like i was really there the background kinda make is look like why will u be there in the first place but i really like this one

this is my a funny pic for me i think i look like there was something wrong with me but i guess the the point of the pic but i really like it because the black and green background make it look more crazy.

this pic was just up there. i told andrea just to take the pic right away before i start laughing but i like it because we got to know how to use more tool and know how to make a funny looking pic look like dang that crazy lol but i really like this pic

Adjustment Layers

In this exercise we learned about Adjustment layers. Adjustment layers allow you to add adjustments to your image on separate layers instead of directly to the image itself. This comes in handy during long complicated projects. In Photoshop every tool is specifically designed to help improve your photo. However, here we took some artistic liberties and explored adjustments creatively.

Self Portraits

this are my self portraits of leading line as you can see the one that has the champions going my way is the leading lines and the rules of thirds is the one were you put your self to the side and not to in the middle that the one were I'm sitting down on the steps and the angles were I'm leaning on the bars i really like these pictures because there of me haha but these are some very good pictures.

Contact Sheet

this is my contact sheet we crop all the pictures we did in class and named all them what they were i really like this project because it showed all our work and made it into a work of art but this show that how much the work mean to us.

Compositional Trick #5 cropping

what we did here was we took out leading line picture and took it to photoshop and crop it and add more a lil more room and put our name

Compositional Trick #4 Extreme Angles

this i all about extreme Angles you have to get like angle that you really don't use and this angle was the the best one because you get (Andrea) in a good positions and the leading lines take you right to her the the angle make the picture more professional and i like it because the sun light make it more beauteful

Compositional Trick #3: Macro

this 1st photo show DEPTH OF FIELD buy looking at the object (shoe) and seeing just the object and the background is like blurry and just keep your eye on the object. the 2nd photo all about the TEXTURE how close you get to the photo so you can see thing your eye cant not see like on my photo you really cant the stiching of the name and the hat.

Compositional Trick #2: Leading Lines

the leading line on my photo is the stairs the wall and the bar on the stairs. what they do is lead you right to the object of the photo and evertime you try to look away it take you right back to the the object it make the photo look more fancy and make you more in to the photo make you wanna keep on looking because not wanting to look away.

Compositional trick #1: Rule of Thirds

rule of thirds is when you put the object that your going to take a picture of on a tick tack toe coner it just show the picture in another angle and not in front because when your in photo class you are not looking for snapshots you looking for art in the photo and snapshot are when you take picture in front and look kinda boring but rule of thirds make the snapshot look for to a photo.
